If King has “Saga” games, Playrix is seemingly owning up the “scapes” name. From the creators of the highly acclaimed Gardenscapes and Homescapes comes another engaging puzzles. Wildscapes is another casual match 3 puzzle adventure that takes you to a colorful journey of a zookeeper and his mission to restore the town park. This time, it is not about Austin and his garden or his mansion. You play the role of a zoo manager and you will be helping Zack the Zookeeper in restoring the place and to bring it back to its former glory. The Gameplay

Those who have played some of Playrix’s iconic games like Gardenscapes or Homescapes should know the drill. Wildscapes, however, is unique of its own. The main objective of this game is to expand the zoo and renovate all areas and make them accessible to everyone. You will be asked to buy animals and place them in their respective areas. Unlike the aforementioned games that often require stars to perform actions, Wildscapes will ask for virtual gold coins which you earn every time you have completed a puzzle.

Speaking of puzzles, Wildscapes will feature your typical match 3 challenge. The game takes you to a dynamically-changing grid filled with colorful objects or tiles. Objectives will often vary per level but the process is all the same. Simply match three or more identical tiles on the grid to clear them off the screen. Continue matching tiles until you have collected all the required objects. Again, instead of Stars, you will earn gold coins as the main form of rewards. The money, on the other hand, is mainly used to buy new objects or animals for the zoo.

Stricter Puzzles and Powerups

Gardenscapes gave us some exciting puzzles. We were brought to the colorful tile-matching experience. Interestingly, Wildscapes offers a noticeably stricter mechanics which add an extra challenge to the gamers. Like most match 3 puzzle, the players are only allotted with a limited number of moves. If they run out of moves and the objective is not yet reached, the game will come to a quick end and you need to start the same level back from the very beginning until you managed to make it through (unless you pay for additional coins to revive the level and earn extra five moves).

For the powerups, however, there’s a different story. Normally, powerups that you earn by matching more than four identical tiles can be activated by simply double-tapping them. For Wildscapes, it comes with stricter rules. You can only activate the powerups by matching them with the tiles of the same color or by swapping them to another powerup located adjacently to them. Merging two powerups will still give you greater effects. To top it all, the game also has boosters that you can purchase during the game as well as consumable powerups that you can buy before entering a new puzzle.

Build Your Dream Zoo

Wildscapes’ main objective is to build your dream zoo. One thing you will surely appreciate here is your progress and how you can turn a simple park into a huge zoo. Interestingly, unlike other Playrix tile-matching games, Wildscapes will have no specific objectives or quests to follow. There is no “to-do” list but the interactive visitors will request for new items from time to time and grant you special rewards in return. Some of them will ask for a new shop while others will demand a new animal. All items are accessible via Market shop but they are not instantly obtainable. Most items can be unlocked and be ready for purchase by beating a certain number of levels.

Unlocking new animals, by the way, can also help you in solving puzzles. Red Fox, for example, will accompany you in some puzzles. If you clear a certain number of red tiles from the puzzle, it will throw up an extra powerup to help you maximize your chances of winning. Take note that the game also has a Life System. You lose a life every time you failed to clear a level. There is a maximum of five lives to spare but the life meter will refill in a certain time duration.

The Verdict

Wildscapes is an interesting addition to the ever-growing Playrix game collection. The addictive formula of their tile-matching game seemingly never fade. Wildscapes is an absolute fun game that you won’t bother playing over and over again. Appearance-wise, much like other Playrix masterpiece, Wildscapes is truly a visual delight. The game features visually stunning graphics and well-fitting music. Definitely worth a download.
