It’s been a while since the last time we played an Escape game bound with so much mystery and challenge. Interestingly, Snapbreak’s Mindsweeper managed to pull it off. Mindsweeper is an escape game that follows the story of Dr. Amy Harris and her mysterious past. The event in this game will take place after a strange genetic plaque was released. Doctor Amy Harris was able to find the cure but unfortunately, someone broke into her lab and stole it from her. To make it worse, Dr. Harris got infected and became ill. Now, the protagonist of this game will use a piece of special equipment that will explore Dr. Harris’ memory to find the suspect and to retrieve the cure and stop the plague from spreading.
Mindsweeper managed to capture all the elements we enjoy from an escape game. It comes with an enigmatic atmosphere complemented by eerie music and audio effects. Your main objective in this game is nothing more but to solve the mystery. You must find out who could possibly do such a crime to Dr. Harris. Mindsweeper will take you to different chapters of Dr. Harris’ life from her cheerful childhood up to her complicated adulthood. The Doctor will meet various people along the way and some of which will play a huge role and impact on her life.
The mechanics of the game are very simple and easily manageable yet the puzzles are surprisingly tricky at some point. In the entire course of this game, the players will be asked to collect items, gather clues and solve numerous puzzles along the way. Generally, that is your typical escape game but what set Mindsweeper apart from others is the highly compelling plot filled with unpredictable mystery and the visually stunning graphics and interactive gameplay. If you are an avid fan of escape games, Mindsweeper might reach or better yet exceed your expectations.
Unravel The Mystery
Escape Games will not be completed without the mystery. Unfortunately for some, the story failed to deliver and somehow too predictable. In Mindsweeper, however, you will be exploring a very unique plot. The longer you progress in this game, the more mystery will arrive. As soon as the game starts, it will prompt you right away to the first chapter. Every chapter is composed of three parts which will all take place on the same map. Each chapter features a highly engaging and visually stunning 3D Interactive map. You can let your character wander around and examine the objects nearby.
Much like any other escape games, the character will be asked to collect various objects. All the items you collected will be sent to your Inventory. To use them, simply drag and drop the item to their respective places. In some cases, you will be asked to combine two or more items together in order to form a new one. Aside from the collectible items, you need to observe very keenly as well and search for the possible clues which you will use to solve some puzzles. Some items like vaults or cabinets will ask for certain codes that are randomly hidden in the map.
Solve Puzzles and Use Hints
Interestingly, aside from collecting items and clues, you are also asked to find hidden pages. These pages are randomly scattered around the map and there is a maximum of three pages per level. They contain a brief story involving Dr. Amy’s past. More than the mystery, the main and real challenge in Mindsweeper are the puzzles. These puzzles will vary in terms of their level of difficulties. Some puzzles are too simple to solve while others are surprisingly tricky and mind-boggling. There are different types of puzzles in the game but most of them are physics-based. You might also encounter sliding puzzles and more but one thing is for sure, they will put your knowledge and skills on a great test. Just in case you are stuck on a certain level, you can always take advantage of the Hints or better yet Skip the puzzles.
The downside of the game, however, is the fact that it is not entirely free to play. This game can be downloaded from the Playstore but you can only play the first two chapters of it. The rest of the chapters are fee-based which means, you have to pay for them to play. Honestly, the game is impressive in so many levels so paying for it could be worth it.
For those who are looking for a decent escape game that features great visuals and impressive story, Mindsweeper is a perfect candidate. It’s a visual delight and it provides puzzles that are challenging enough to test your brain. Unfortunately, this game is not completely free. There are many other games in the mobile market that are equally impressive and are free-to-play. However, with such a compelling plot and well-polished gameplay, Mindsweeper is something you can confidently include on your mobile. Currently, Mindsweeper is available for both Android and iOS devices and you can download this game for free (at least on the first two chapters of it).
