I am not sure if anyone still remembers arcade games like Qix and Xonix but this is exactly where Color Fill 3D game is inspired from. The aforementioned games rose to fame in the early 80s in which your goal is to claim the majority of the playfield by moving the marker around the edges of the rectangle. In Color Fill 3D, you are about to experience the same thing. Your main objective in the game is not just to claim the majority but the entire playfield. The game will take you to a series of challenging and tricky levels with a varying range of difficulties. If you think you can master this fun and nostalgic game, feel free to explore Color Fill 3D and see how far you can go.
Interestingly, Color Fill 3D comes with a very simple set of mechanics and with a straightforward rule. As mentioned above, the goal is to take control of your marker and claim the entire playfield or board to clear the level. Here’s how it works. As soon as you start the game, it prompts you right away to the playfield which changes dynamically per level. Your marker will start at the very bottom of the playing area. You can start moving by simply swiping your finger towards the direction you want your marker to go. To claim an area or to fill an area with your color, simply move the marker from one edge to another.
The marker will leave a trail and you must be quick enough to reach another edge before the moving obstacle touches it. Otherwise, the game will come to a quick end and you have no other option but to start the same level back from the very beginning until you managed to make it through. The moving obstacles are the greatest challenge of Color Fill 3D. You must avoid them at all cost. These obstacles often move in a fixed direction. If you already claimed an area, all obstacles that touch it will be destroyed. It is also important to mention that you cannot touch your own trail either.
Simple and Nostalgic Gameplay
They said that simplicity is beautiful and Color Fill 3D will just prove you so. The game doesn’t come with any visually striking details or hardcore graphics to impress you. Instead, the game will showcase a very simple yet colorful interface. Despite the apparent simplicity, the game is surprisingly tricky. It requires the players to establish the most effective strategy and as well as to show off their impressive eye and hand to win. Be mindful that a level might consist of two or more stages. The first stage is often smaller than the succeeding stages. You must complete all the stages without failing, otherwise, you will either go back from start or you can continue from where you left off by paying gems or by watching a reward video.
What really makes the game so special is the nostalgic gameplay. Those who grew up enjoying classic arcade games like Qix or Xonix will find Color Fill 3D equally engaging. During the hype of browser flash games, Xonix was adopted into another game that shares the same gameplay. Pac-Xon by CrazyGames merges both Pacman and Xonix into one. Eventually, many other mobile games embraced the same format. We have seen a lot of io games that share the same concept. Color Fill 3D, however, devotes itself to the classic arcade while bringing some exciting modern approach to it.
Unlock New Themes
Color Fill 3D may not offer much but you can still unlock new skins to make your game more visually appealing. Simply head over to the main page and tap the “cart” icon on the upper right corner of the game screen. This will open up a small window showcasing all the available themes. Each of them costs 10 Gems. You can also unlock a new playing area with 50 Gems. Gems serve as the game’s virtual currency which you can earn in two basic ways. The most common way to earn gems is by completing the level. Each level features gems that are placed in random locations. You can claim the gems once you have filled their area.
Another way to earn gems is by watching rewarded videos. Although not frequently seen, you will encounter the gem icon (just beneath the cart icon) on the main menu. Tap the icon and watch the short video and get an instant 5 gems in return. Speaking of reward videos, the only notable downside of Color Fill 3D is the overwhelming number of advertisements that pops up almost after every level. Of course, the only way to remove them is by upgrading your account. Interestingly, this game works well even without an Internet connection. I just hope the developers will somehow lessen the ads to make this game more enjoyable.
Color Fill 3D is a simple yet fun and surprisingly nostalgic puzzle game. It takes the classic Xonix into an exciting new level that features neat and wonderful 3D visuals. The game may not have many features to explore but still worth playing with. If you are looking for a very light game that you can effectively use as a pastime, Color Fill 3D is an excellent choice. It is light and will not consume much of your phone storage and best off all, it works perfectly well even without an Internet connection which allows you to play this game anywhere and anytime you want. The ads, however, is a major downfall. Currently, Color Fill 3D is available for both Android and iOS devices and you can download this game for free. Good luck and have fun!
