Most of you probably came across some mobile game ads that are way far different from the actual gameplay. Unfortunately, these false advertising strategies are very common nowadays. Most of which will showcase pin-pulling puzzles but in reality they are not. Good thing is that there is actually a decent number of pin-pulling puzzles on the market and most of which can be downloaded for free. Rescue Knight by Kometa is one of those games that remained faithful to what they advertised. This exciting pin-pulling puzzle will take you to a series of mind-boggling challenges. Your main objective is to clear all levels by strategically pulling all the pins and helping your mighty knight reach his target without getting harmed.

The Gameplay

The mechanics are very simple and easily manageable. The rule is definitely a no-brainer but despite the simplicity, the gameplay is surprisingly tricky and challenging that will surely put your skills on a test. Here’s how Rescue Knight works. As soon as the game starts, it will prompt you immediately to the first level. Most levels are represented by a simple tower with multiple pins attached to it. These pins can be pulled out to give your character or other objects an access or passable path towards the bottom.  Every object will be pulled down and you must visualize the puzzle carefully and prevent the knight from getting killed. Otherwise, the game will come to a quick end and you have no other option but to start the same level back from the very beginning until you managed to make it through.

Simple yet challenging. I guess this is how you can perfectly describe Rescue Knight. Keep in mind that you have no control over your character and the only way to make him move is by pulling the pin underneath him. To clear the level, you must complete your goal that will vary from time to time. Most of the time, you will be asked to collect the pile of gold or the treasure chest. However, you will also encounter other equally challenging tasks. You might be asked to kill the goblins or to rescue the princess (hence the title Rescue Knight).

Challenging Yet Colorful Pin-Pulling Puzzles

Regardless of what objective you are asked, Rescue Knight comes with very straightforward gameplay. The controls are not as complex as you imagine. In fact, all you need to do is to tap the pins and drag them out of the tower. The challenge here, however, is that the pins should be pulled in proper order.  It is very important to mention that each puzzle comes with one solution so you better visualize it first before taking any action. Take note that all your actions cannot be undone and if you pulled the wrong pin, it might force you to hit the Replay button which will cost you a life.

Rescue Knight follows a Heart or life system. Each player has three consumable lives and you will lose one in every failed attempt. The lives will refill over time (you gain a new one every 30 minutes). If you are not fond of waiting, you can also use your coins to restore your lives instantly. Players can earn additional 10 Lives for 300 Coins and an additional 40 for 900 coins. You can also purchase lives through the in-game shop. If you are not willing to spend coins or money, you can also take advantage of the video rewards and earn additional life after watching the ad. More objects and challenges will be introduced as you progress. You will soon encounter various mechanisms and traps that could either help or harm you in the process.

Skip, Hints, and Armors

Like most physics-based puzzles, you might also encounter levels that are seemingly inescapable. If you find it extremely hard, you can always take advantage of your Hints. Players are given 10 Free Hints that can be used in the entire game. Once you consumed all your hints, you may now have to purchase them from the shop either through gold coins or through real cash. It is also important to mention that Hint will only reveal one action and will not provide you the entire sequence (unless you use all your hints for that). If you do not want to spend your time solving a specific level, you can also Skip the process but you must purchase the Skip Level from the In-game shop (requires real money).

Another great thing about Rescue Knight is the overwhelming number of armors to unlock. By tapping the Change Armor icon (it appears in between levels), you can access the Armor shop. Currently, there are four unlockable armors in the game. There are Shadow Skin and Inferno Skin that are both purchasable using real money (as part of the game’s microtransaction) and there are Isolation and Ice King Skin that can be purchased through gold coins amounting to 1500 to 2500 coins respectively. The reward system of the game may not be extremely generous but players can double the amount by watching reward videos.

The Verdict

Rescue Knight is a very addictive pin-pulling puzzle and I love how they remained faithful to what they exactly advertised. We are all greeted by the same pin-pulling puzzle and not by other gameplay. One of the interesting features of the game is the player’s ability to share their victory through their social media. The game comes with an IQ level system that works like a rank chart or leaderboard. You can share your IQ level with your friends and challenge them to beat your score. Appearance-wise, Rescue Knight is a visual delight. It treats you with amazing colorful visuals that are complemented with well-fitting Medieval-inspired music.
