Phone models are updating more rapidly than we imagine. You will be embracing all the great features on your new phone today and a few months after, a new model will be launched featuring greater features. Unfortunately, switching from one phone to another can be challenging and tricky. You might end up losing all your contacts, all the apps and all the music you owned from your previous phone. Interestingly, Samsung recently came up with the Samsung Smart Switch Mobile which finally allows you to easily transfer your data from your previous phone to your new phone in no time.
Transfer Contacts, Music, Photos and More to Other Device
This app will be aptly named Smart Switch for no reason. Interestingly, Smart Switch gives you the freedom to move your contacts, music, photos, calendar, text messages, device settings, and more to your new Galaxy device. Yes, if you are a Samsung Galaxy user, this app is tailored and wonderfully optimized for your device and it allows Galaxy users to upgrade their phone without the hesitation of losing their precious data from their old phone. In addition to that, Smart Switch also helps you find your favorite apps or suggest similar ones on Google Play.
Just in case you missed their advertisements, Smart Switch created a brilliant ad to explain how the app works. So if you have lots of important contacts saved from your old device, you can easily wire transfer them to your new device. If you have preferred settings, you can also transfer the data to your new phone. For photos, videos, and music, you no longer need to upload a third-party app to transfer them all. All you need is a Smart Switch to smoothly transfer the files from one phone to another.
How it Works
Transferring data from your old phone to your new Galaxy device can be very simple and tricky at the same time. The first thing you must check is the compatibility. The wireless transfer is only applicable for devices with Android 4.0 or higher. You can also transfer data from non-Samsung devices but those with Android versions lower than 6.0 can only connect with Galaxy devices that support a Mobile AP. There are two ways to connect the devices with Smart Switch, you can either use the Cable or the Wireless Transfer.
For the wire transfer, you have to literally connect the two devices using a USB Connector. You can also use the Wireless Transfer as long as the devices have met the required specs. When successfully connected, the user is free to choose what to send. There are many things you can transfer with Smart Switch. These include contacts, calendars, messages, photos, music, videos, call logs, memos, alarms, Wi-Fi, wallpapers, documents, app data, home layouts, and more. It can also scan and transfer content from your SD cards (if available).
Smart Switch is indeed a useful app but you can only embrace its functions if your phone is compatible with it. All recent Samsung Galaxy devices were compatible with the Smart Switch starting from Galaxy S2 and higher. Those who owned Samsung S2 and older OS might experience some incompatibility issues. Other Android devices that are compatible with Smart Switch include HTC, LG, Sony, Huawei, Lenovo, Motorola, Panasonic, SHARP, Fujitsu, Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO, Coolpad, Cherry Mobile and many others. Just be mindful that in order to use Smart Switch smoothly, both devices (old and new) must have a minimum of 500 MB free space in their internal memory.
Smart Switch is probably an app that you may not use frequently but it is indeed useful in many ways. Those who bought new phones will be able to transfer their data from their old phones in no time. Instead of manually transferring them via Bluetooth or through a third-party app, they can simply use the Smart Switch and transfer all the data they need in no time. Smart Switch is available in Google PlayStore absolutely for free.
