The Gameplay

The mechanics for this game are generally simple and easily manageable. If you have played other tower defense games like Plants Vs Zombies then you will surely find The Battle Cats equally fascinating. As what mentioned above, the main objective is to clear all levels by successfully destroying the opponent’s tower. To do so, you must summon your cats on the battlefield and allow them to break through the enemies’ defenses until they have completely destroyed the base. Now, who would have thought that cats can be so disastrous? This game managed to incorporate both action and humor together which makes The Battle Cats extremely enjoyable and fun to play with.

Generally, here’s how the game works. As soon as the battle starts, you will be prompted immediately to the 2D battlefield. The cat’s tower is located on the far right side of the arena by default while the opponent’s base can be found on the other end. Similar to how Plants vs Zombies works. You cannot summon any cats if you have not collected any money. Interestingly, the money will generate automatically and you just have to wait until you have collected enough to summon your first cat. Located on the lowermost panel are five slots showcasing all the available cats you can purchase. Generally, cats will vary in terms of their abilities, strength, and rarities. The level is cleared when you managed to destroy the opponent’s base.

World Cat Domination

What really makes The Battle Cats so engaging is the fact that you are about to explore the entire world. The battle begins with Korea and eventually, you will progress and jump from one country to another. In fact, the towers will reflect the country they are representing. If you enter Thailand, for example, the tower is inspired by one of their famous Budhha temples. Cambodia has an Angkor Wat inspired tower while Singapore has a Merlion-inspired base. Although the backgrounds and the enemies are quite repetitive, the dynamically changing towers based on different countries is undeniably a clever approach which makes this game absolutely worth-exploring.

Interestingly, the rate of difficulty will drastically increase as you progress. The defense rate of the opponent’s tower will exponentially increase. To top it all, the game will gradually introduce new types of enemies. These enemies are often more difficult to defeat and some of them are endowed with special abilities which makes the game more thrilling and challenging at the same time. It is also interesting to note that aside from the cats, the tower itself is armed with a cannon. Every time you summoned a cat on the battlefield, the cannon meter will fill up and if you have earned enough, you can activate the cannon for massive destruction.

Unlock More Cats

Similar to Plants Vs Zombies, you are not just settling with Sunflower plants and Pea Shooter. The Battle Cats will introduce you to an overwhelming number of cats. Interestingly, you can unlock cats in many different methods. First of which is by Daily Login Bonuses. Try to play the game on a daily basis and you might earn a new cat for your team. Daily Login Bonuses will often grant you Silver and Gold Tickets which you can use for Cat Capsule and Rare Cat Capsule machines respectively. Both machines will randomly unlock a new cat. Just in case you got the same cat, you can dispose of the cat out of your storage and exchange it for additional XP points.

Cats will vary in terms of their rarities. There are Normal Cats, Special Cats, and Rare Cats. Stronger cats often require players to collect more money. To increase the money capacity, simply tap the Level Up icon on the lower-left corner of the battlefield. Interestingly, to make the cats more efficient and more destructive, you can manually upgrade them from the main menu. You can also upgrade your cannon to dramatically increase its damage rate. Players can also take advantage of the boosters that they can buy using cat food before the battle begins. Aside from the main campaign, you’ll also get access to the Event Stages which only appear on a certain period.

Despite the apparent simplicity, the players are strongly encouraged to establish the most effective strategy to maximize their chances of winning.
